A great year for Project Soar!

2016 has been a very eventful and exciting year for Project Soar, the non-profit organization where we are on the board and work to empower Moroccan adolescent girls with the ultimate goal to keep them in school. We provide a wide range of different after school activities that help these girls recognize their strengths, intelligence, capability and worth to prepare them for better futures.

Project Soar has now worked with over 250 Moroccan girls.

We are now raising money to enable Project Soar to expand and reach more girls throughout Morocco and we need YOUR SUPPORT! All money go directly to empower Moroccan girls. We would be so very grateful if you would consider a donation.

Every Sunday Project Soar arranges educational activities in health, art and sports and a doctor is visiting Project Soar regularly to teach the girls how to take care of their health and hygiene. The purpose of these activities is primarily to build confidence and self-esteem for the girls but also educate them in areas that are not provided by the Moroccan school system. To participate in Project Soar the girls need to have full attendance in school.

In order to attend the girls must take the Project Soar Pledge, promising to stay in school.

So many amazing things has happened with Project Soar lately, it has grown in numbers both in how many girls we reach and how many villages that has been covered. We have also expanded the curriculum to include not only education in health, art and sports but also English language lessons, after school studies and a chess club.

The new chess club is a great way to empower the girls and their minds.

The running club has become very popular!

We are also very pleased that we have such a great new project manager in place who ensures the quality of the work and is a key resource to roll out Project Soar on a wider scale in order to help even more girls to stay in school. Olivia di Nucci has worked for two years with the Peace Corps in Essaouira and speaks Moroccan Arabic fluently so she is perfect for the part.

The brilliant project manager Olivia di Nucci.

A major event for Project Soar this year was when Michelle Obama and Meryl Streep visited Morocco for the project "Let Girls Learn" which also aims to support girls in developing countries. Let Girls Learn was launched in March 2015 by the President and First Lady Obama to address the challenges preventing adolescent girls from attaining a quality education that empowers them to reach their full potential.

The amazing Michelle Obama.

Both Michelle Obama and Meryl Streep met with the Project Soar girls and showed great enthusiasm for Project Soar as part of their mission to educate girls around the world. Meryl Streep spent a whole day at our headquarters in the village Douar Ladaam talking to the girls about important issues like why young girls in Morocco are missing school. You can take a look of the meeting HERE.

We are really happy that Project Soar became a part of the CNN documentary "We Will Rise" based on Michelle Obama's mission to educate underprivileged girls and that we had this cooperation with "Let Girls Learn". The film is about the First Lady, Meryl Streep, Freida Pinto and CNN's Isha Sesay visiting Morocco and Liberia where they meet girls and young women to talk about girl empowerment and the importance of education. You can see the trailer HERE!

The CNN documentary "We Will Rise" premiered on October 11.

Olivia and some of the Project Soar girls went to the White House in Washington to see the film.

For next year we have raised the bar further and the goal is to reach a great number of new villages through the concept "Project Soar in a Box" that will enable Project Soar to expand to satellite locations and bring Project Soar to more adolescent girls and communities in need throughout Morocco.

This is what is in the box to the "Project Soar in a Box" concept.

Project Soar is 100% volunteer based and there are so many supporters, from individuals to companies, from sports instructors to designers, and from doctors to Peace Corps Volunteers. Together, we are building the Project Soar Nation: a country without borders and a state of mind, a place made up of caring individuals who want to make the world a better place for its girls. So why don't you join us?

Join the Project Soar Nation!

With your help we can reach even more girls in Morocco so we would be very happy and grateful if you would like to contribute to help Moroccan girls to a better future.
